I love my job. My clients are insightful, creative, struggling, determined, self-critical, caring and, like me, they are on a journey of self improvement. We all have difficulties and strengths. I work with my clients to build up their strengths and tackle their difficulties.

I take really good care of myself, so that I can take great of my clients, impartially and with acceptance.

If you’re ready for change, let me support you.

my experience and training

I received my PG Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University in 2015 - a BACP accredited course including a minimum of 100 client hours, qualifying me to work as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

My placements were at Craven College and at Aire Valley Counselling (now AWC Counselling), for which I have continued to work ever since as a freelance counsellor.

Prior to this I completed a PG Certificate in Interpersonal & Counselling Skills from Leeds Metropolitan University.

RECENT TESTIMONIALS

“These therapy sessions have helped me immensely over the past few weeks; they have improved my mental and physical health. I am now more comfortable holding conversations and leaving my comfort zone. It has bettered my life.”

“Complete change in self confidence and overall wellbeing. Feeling happy without trying. A new outlook to taking life day-by-day.”

“At first you think the world has ended…but through counselling a light at the end of the tunnel has appeared.”

continuing professional development

I attend clinical supervision monthly to reflect on and discuss my client work. Besides being an essential element of ethical practice as a therapist, I find this a powerful resource in increasing my understanding and skill with clients and tending to my own self care.

I attend trainings, listen to podcasts and read therapy books each year to ensure the quality of my practice and to follow my areas of specialism. Some of the most impactful training courses have included:

A Practical Introduction to Focusing, Alan Tidmarsh, Accord Services, 2019

Working Therapeutically with Psychosomatics, John Hill, AWC Counselling, 2018

Trauma, Dissociation & Recovery, PODS (Positive Outcomes for Dissociation Survivors), 2016
