What are your cancellation fees?

There is no obligation to attend every week, but if we have booked a session and you need to cancel it with fewer than 24 hours’ notice, or forget to attend, you will need to pay the full fee for that session.

If you cancel a booked session within fewer than 2 days’ notice, the fee is £15. If we are able to reschedule your appointment to another time that same week, you won’t need to pay the extra £15. Please note I only work Monday-Wednesday with my private and Bupa clients.

Why do you charge cancellation fees?

I keep my weekly appointments to a maximum of 12, to ensure plenty of time for self care, supervision, CPD and my other work. Once these 12 slots are booked each week I have to put new clients on a waiting list or turn people away. If clients cancel within 24 hours, there is no time to offer their appointment to another client. Similarly with 1-3 days notice, I will have arranged other clients around our booked appointment and it is unlikely that I will be able to fill it.

I also find that this policy means clients rarely cancel unless it is unavoidable, which allows us to keep up the momentum in our work. It also means that the therapeutic relationship remains equal. There is no need for you to feel guilty about cancelling because you have paid for the session, so all is even and we can get on with focusing on your difficulties and goals.

Why does office-based therapy cost more?

This is to cover the cost of renting the counselling room for our session.

Why do evenings and weekends cost more?

Daytime appointments are discounted to encourage clients to book daytime sessions where possible, to allow a work-life balance for me and keep me in good shape for supporting others.
